The Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers held an awards night on April 26 highlighting the achievements of varsity athletes over the last year.

Among the awards handed out during the evening were ones celebrating RSEQ All-Stars, CCAA All-Canadians, academic awards and team awards like Most Improved and Athletic Leadership.

The award for the Female Athlete of the Year was given to Women’s Basketball graduating student, Caitlin Frost. The award for the Male Athlete of the Year was given to Emerson Peterkin of the Champlain Football team.

These awards honour the student athletes who had the greatest impact and outstanding performance for their team this season.

Cross-Country Running athlete Alexie des Châtelets-Lynch was presented with the award for the highest academic average of any graduating Cavalier.

This average is taken over every semester of the student’s period of studies, excluding the current session.

Châtelets-Lynch won the award with a 94% overall average during her studies. Congratulations to Alexie for epitomizing what being a student athlete is all about!

The award for RTP Comeback of the Year was presented to Sophie Elzina René, who plays on the women’s basketball team. The award is presented to an athlete who has overcome great obstacles to contribute positively to their team, both on and off the field.

Coming in as a rookie this year, Sophie Elzina René suffered a severe high ankle sprain in the middle of the season that removed her from play for two months. Dedicated to rehab, She was able to return during the playoffs, helping propel the team to the first CCAA national championship medal.

Congrats to all the student athletes honoured during the event.
