Hybrid (partly online and partly onsite). Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m (with one hour lunch break). Tuesday and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Description
This AEC is aimed at those seeking to work in a mixed Microsoft Windows and Linux environments to provide technical assistance on these platforms as well as cloud-based systems and platforms. This program addresses the demand for proficiency in operating systems, virtualization technologies, cloud and network services, security, and selected industry-recognized Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure certifications.
Among the positions the program will provide the skills to fill are:

- Support Technician
- Cloud Network Specialist
- Cloud Consultant
Career Perspectives
Fields and type of employers
Graduates from this AEC will find employment working directly in companies currently using cloud computing and hybrid models. Graduates may also work for companies that specialize in cloud computing consulting and networks, utilizing the cloud platforms from Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. In the Montreal region Amazon, Microsoft and Google all have datacenters with tremendous growth and a shortage of trained personnel.
Job placement and prospects
Work prospects are very good, according to the Exploring Trades and Occupations web page of the Government of Quebec (July 2024) for Computer network and web technicians (National Occupational Classification (NOC) 22220).
Salary range
Hourly wage in Quebec varies from $20.00 to $47.80 and yearly wage is $65,500 (Exploring Trades and Occupations web page of the Government of Quebec, July 2024).
Semester 1
420-750-LA Network Fundamentals – 75 hours
This course introduces the students to the fundamentals of networking. The course will cover the OSI model for understanding the functioning of a network. Students will be introduced to the key components on a typical network. An introduction to the configuration and building of a typical local network will be covered from a practical perspective. Students will complete basic router and switch configurations as well as install virtual machines of various Microsoft Windows and Linux client operating systems.
420-751-LA Windows Desktops – 60 hours
This course introduces the students to the installation and configuration of Microsoft Windows Desktops. Typical company deployment technologies will be covered as well as connecting desktops to Active Directory servers.
420-752-LA Windows Server I – 60 hours
This course introduces students to Microsoft Windows Server installation and configuration. Students will use graphical tools as well as PowerShell to configure Active Directory services in a typical company.
420-762-LA Windows Server II – 60 hours
This course looks at the typical configuration of various services on a Microsoft Windows Server, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. This course will also cover group policies, as well as patch management of servers and clients.
Semester 2
420-753-LA Linux Administration I – 75 hours
This course is an introduction to the installation, configuration, and administration of a Linux server. Students will learn the various commands utilized in Linux as well as the graphical tools available.
420-754-LA Virtualization Technologies – 75 hours
This course describes the various virtualization technologies used in building a data center. Students will cover the installation and configuration of Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMware vSphere ESXi Servers. In addition, students will be introduced to the various cloud solutions such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.
420-755-LA Amazon Web Services Fundamentals I – 75 hours
This course is based on the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations course. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. In addition, students will cover theory and practical training to help prepare for the following certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
420-756-LA Microsoft Azure Fundamentals – 75 hours
This course will provide knowledge of cloud services and how those services are provided with Microsoft Azure. The course will cover cloud concepts, Azure services, Azure workloads, security, and privacy in Azure, as well as Azure pricing and support. Students will be introduced to implementing, managing, and monitoring identity, governance, storage, compute, and virtual networks in a cloud environment, plus provision, size, monitor, and adjust resources, when needed. Students completing this course will be prepared for the following certification: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administration– Associate Exam AZ-104.
420-763-LA Linux Administration II – 60 hours
This course will cover the various services that can be implemented on a Linux server. Students will configure a Linux server with the following services: DNS, Apache, Nginx, sendmail, Postfix, Dovecot, DHCP, samba, LAMP, LEMP, nfs, and Firewall Services.
420-757-LA Google Cloud Platform – 90 hours
This course will cover theory and practical knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform. Students will cover the basics of cloud technology after which they will learn to plan and deploy applications, monitor operations, and manage enterprise solutions. In addition, they will configure access and security for the solutions. The use of Google Cloud Console and the command-line interface to perform common platform-based tasks to maintain one or more deployed solutions will also be covered. Students completing this course will be prepared for the following certification: Google Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE).
420-765-LA Amazon Web Services Fundamentals II – 60 hours
This course will cover the implementation of distributed AWS Cloud Solutions. Students will design, build, deploy, and maintain business applications and critical infrastructure inside the AWS Cloud. In addition, solutions will include the migration of existing network infrastructure to the cloud. Students completing this course will be prepared for the following certification: Associated Certification – AWS and Solutions Architect Associate.
Semester 3
420-758-LA Internship – 420 hours
This course will provide students with the opportunity to be placed within a company to gain hands on experience in the IT field. Students will be able to obtain experience in one or more of the areas covered in the program providing technical support. In addition, students will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to establish professional relationships with users and clients. Students completing this course will also be prepared to work within multidisciplinary teams and they will become familiar with the legal obligations and rules of professional ethics.
Admission Requirements
There are ministerial requirements and there might be specific requirements for each program. Please make sure to check all of them.
Please note that Applicants will also be asked to provide proof of one of the following:
- Canadian Citizenship
- Permanent Residency
- Permanent refugee status (must hold a valid study permit)
- Valid Student Visa
Ministerial Requirements
Applicants must have a Secondary V diploma or equivalent or have acquired knowledge and skills deemed sufficient by the College for potential success in the program. More specifically, they must show proof of:
- A Diploma of High School Studies OR
- A College Diploma or a University Degree OR
- A partial high school program, coupled with a recommendation from a current or former employer that you would benefit from pursuing your education at the post-secondary level.
And
The applicant must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have interrupted studying full-time for at least two consecutive terms or one school year OR
- Be covered under an agreement between the college and an employer, or benefiting from a government program OR
- Have completed at least one year of post-secondary studies over a period of one year or more OR
- Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS/DEP)
Program Specific Requirements
- Basic computer usage including file structure and knowledge of basic troubleshooting of an operating system.
- Applicants will be asked to submit their curriculum vitae (CV) and may be interviewed and given an entrance exam in computer fundamentals prior to admission to the program to verify their qualifications.
- Potential candidates may be required to take an appropriate remedial course(s).
- Students must also have attained a certain level of mastery of the English language, in order to be able to deal with the course materials.
- Students’ French language skills will also be assessed prior to starting to ensure their capacity to work in French.

Technical Requirements
Requirements to take part in the instructor-led virtual classes
To take part in the instructor-led virtual classes, you will need a personal computer with these minimal requirements:
- PC compatible with Windows 10
- Intel® Core™ i5 Processor
- 8 GB of RAM
- Hard drive of 500 GB
- Network cable or adapter
- Webcam with microphone
- High-speed internet (minimum 2 megabits)
How to Apply
1. Attend an information session
The first step in the application process is to sign up for an information session. You can do that by clicking the “Attend an information session” button and completing the form that follows. During the information session, which might be in a group or held individually, the pedagogical counsellor for the program will explain in detail the admission requirements, how the program works, and the application process.
2. Submit an application for admission
After attending an information session, you will receive an email with detailed application instructions and the link you will use to access Omnivox, Champlain College Saint Lambert’s online application platform. Submit your application for admission via Omnivox by following the instructions provided in the email.
3. Upload all the required documents
You will be asked during the online application process to upload the following required documents.
Proof of residency documents, based on your status:
- Québec birth certificate OR
- Canadian birth certificate AND a valid Quebec RAMQ card OR
- Canadian citizenship card/certificate AND a valid Quebec RAMQ Card OR
- Permanent resident card AND a CSQ (Certificate of Selection of Quebec) or a valid Quebec RAMQ card in the event that you did not receive a CSQ
Schooling documents:
- Secondary school, college, or university certificates AND
- Transcripts for the highest level of schooling completed AND
- Any other certifications relevant to the program.

4. Await the admission verdict
Once you have submitted all required documents, no further action is needed from you. Our admissions’ team will be reviewing your application, and we will contact you by email as soon as the admission verdict is available. We will also contact you by email should our admissions team require additional documentation or information before an admission decision can be made.
